Following an exciting year, Gnomon looks back on 2015 and recaps some of the key milestones
The last 12 months have offered Gnomon a great deal to celebrate. 2015 brought not one, but two prestigious awards, which is a true testament to the students, instructors, and faculty that have kept Gnomon on its distinguished path.
The School of Excellence Award is a high honor bestowed upon ACCSC-accredited institutions recognized for delivering and maintaining high levels of achievement among their students. Gnomon was deemed eligible for the award having demonstrated a high level of student achievement, including rates of graduation and graduate employment.
The School of Excellence Award was icing on the cake after Gnomon dominated the annual CG Student Awards (now renamed The Rookies). Not only was Gnomon named School of the Year, but two alumni were awarded top honors in both Student of the Year 2015 categories: Daniel Kho scooped first place in the VFX/Animation group while Danny Mak found himself top of the class in the Next-Gen Gaming category. What’s more, Gnomon student Cheyne Hessler won a Bootcamp Placement in the Next-Gen Gaming category.
In 2015, Gnomon continued to improve its curriculum offerings with the addition of an emphasis of study on games, developed for students looking to specialize in the art, design, and tools of games. With a balance of design education and software-based technical training, this is offered as part of the full-time programs, offering students an extensive and in-depth skill set relevant to the demands of the industry.
Launched in May, gnomon.edu is the new-look website that offers intuitive navigation through a slick presentation of art and photography, as well as regularly updated gallery showcases, community events, and the school blog. New features also include the ability to LiveChat with an advisor during office hours, plus logins to Online Courses and the Student Portal.
For many years, Gnomon has hosted an abundance of inspiring and educational events featuring some of the entertainment industry's most talented artists. Traditionally these were limited to the capacity of the Gnomon Stage and for those with easy access to Hollywood. Establishing Gnomon’s Livestream channel in May has since enabled people over the world to experience the regular top-class events from Gnomon’s green-screen stage.
Founded in 1997, Gnomon has trained thousands of students and professionals for careers in the entertainment industry. Find out more
