It's Library Shelfie Day, and we have to admit, we have some pretty awesome library shelves. If you've been to the Gnomon Library before, you'll know that it's not only stocked full of reference materials and learning resources, but also anything you need to become inspired.
In honor of Library Shelfie Day, we asked Lucy Bellamy, our Director of Library and Learning Resources, four quick questions about the library and and what she's been reading. Lucy has been in the library game since 2005 and holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science. She’s a great resource herself, so if you want to learn more about the different online and offline services the library has to offer or need help finding that one, elusive reference, stop by the Gnomon Library and say hi!
What kind of books and additional resources can students expect to find at the library?
The Gnomon Library is a unique blend of information and inspiration. The collections include traditional resources such as books, industry magazines, and films, as well as visual references like sculptures, design artifacts, and lots of skulls(!)
How do you decide what to include in the library?
All our resources are informed by the programs and courses offered by Gnomon. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or Great Expectations might not be on our shelves, but you’ll find guides on ZBrush, books on art history and anatomy, compendiums on design, and so much more.
What’s your favorite part of the Gnomon library?
What book are you reading right now?
The Pale King by David Foster Wallace and The Giant’s House: A Romance by Elizabeth McKracken
The Gnomon Library is open weekdays from 10 AM to 6 PM. If you’re interested in making a donation to the library, please contact Lucy at firstname.lastname@example.org
