Join us on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at 7:30 pm (PST) for an evening with talented artists from Fox Animation Studios. Four speakers from the Los Angeles studio will discuss the disciplines of storyboarding, animation, and direction on the long-running animated sitcom, The Simpsons. The presentation will inspire students and professionals alike with insights into the creation of a world-famous animated comedy, and offer information about the various roles that contribute to the show’s success.
This event will not be Livestreamed. To watch the event, be sure to RSVP to attend for free at the Gnomon Stage. 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm: Animation Disciplines: An Evening Featuring ‘The Simpsons’ Artists
Edwin has been working in the animation industry for over 23 years. He is currently an Assistant Director on the animated show, The Simpsons and has been with the show for 19 years. He has also worked as a storyboard artist, character layout artist, character designer, and prop designer. Prior to this, he worked for Graz Entertainment, Hanna-Barbera, Animation Cottage, Chuck Jones Film Productions as an assistant animator.
Erika Isabel Vega
Erika has been working with The Simpsons for over 10 years. She got her start in 2006 on The Simpsons Movie, followed by The Simpsons Ride for the Universal Studios Theme Parks. She then served on the crew for the direct-to-DVD animated sci-fi horror film Dead Space: Downfall before joining The Simpsons TV series on Season 20. She has worked on hundreds of episodes and special projects including the Academy Award-nominated short, The Longest Daycare.
Mike has worked in animation since 1994. He started working as an animation assistant on the Turner Feature?s film Cats Don?t Dance. Mike has worked in the feature, television, video game and commercial animation industry for studios including Hanna Barbera, Baer Animation, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Television, Miramax, Film Roman, and Fox Television Animation studio, among others.
Mike fist began his animation career with The Simpsons in 2004. He later took some time away from the show while he went through Gnomon?s full-time Character and Creature Animation Track, before returning to work at Fox Television Animation as a Character Animator. He?s also worked creating animations for 2K, as well as animations for commercials, movies, and VR simulation for Logan Studios.
