Join us December 4th for an in-depth look at the art of 3D modeling with guest artist James Schauf. As a Gnomon alum and instructor, James is no stranger to sharing his skills and insights with our community. Gnomon representative Adam Hartel will speak with James about his artistic journey, what brought him to Gnomon, and the variety of projects he’s worked on over the years (including Iron Man 2, Moana, and Big Hero 6). Tune in to gain a better understanding of the tools of the trade, like Z Brush and Maya, and explore where 3D modeling can take you in the industry.
Throughout the stream, viewers will have the opportunity to ask James questions in the stream chat. Be sure to stick around after the interview for a Virtual Info Session to learn all about Gnomon, and a detailed overview on:
Gnomon's full-time programs and 10-week individual courses are designed to develop well-rounded artists
that who are skilled in the diverse disciplines within 3D production. For those outside of the US, virtual classroom-style online courses are also available.
After nearly a decade in the United States Air Force, James chose to pursue his talents as an artist and became the first veteran to graduate from Gnomon. His skills as a modeler can be seen in film and television (credits include Raya and the Last Dragon, Moana, Big Hero 6, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, and Iron Man 2). He has contributed to award-winning television and feature films. James has also been an instructor for over 7 years.
As a Gnomon representative, Adam travels to high schools, community colleges, and trade shows to educate prospective students about Gnomon’s academic options and provide information about careers in the entertainment industry. With over two decades of experience working in nonprofit, Adam has used his skills in visual art, photography, and design to create socially conscious initiatives in collaboration with art students and professionals. He has lived and worked abroad in Norway and the Netherlands while traveling Europe as a community developer and public speaker.
