Pixologic is bringing world-renowned VFX giant Industrial Light and Magic to the Gnomon stage on Saturday, December 10th, at 12:00 pm PST. The free-to-attend event will offer in-depth presentations by three Lead Creature Modelers covering their work on Warcraft: The Beginning. Kris Costa will open the event at 12:00 pm with a discussion about the creation of Draka, Guldan, and secondary characters from the film. Sunny Wei will follow with a talk about crowd creation and additional character modeling. The finale session will see Patrick Gagne take the stage to share his experiences using ZBrush and 3D printing to create physical models of Blackhand, and his variations for the Warcraft movie.
The event is free and open to the public. Entry is by RSVP only, and seating is first-come-first-served. ILM has reserved the right not to Livestream this event, so don’t miss this opportunity to attend in person at the Gnomon campus in Hollywood. The event will not be recorded.
Kris Costa is an award-winning Brazilian CG artist currently working as a Lead Creature Modeler at Industrial Light & Magic. He’s participated as a character animator, texture artist and/or digital modeler on films including The Avengers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rango, and many others.
Sunny Wei is also a Lead Creature Modeler currently working at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco. Sunny's tools of choice include ZBrush, Maya, Photoshop, as well as other ILM-dedicated software. Credits include Pacific Rim, The Lone Ranger, Battleship, plus many more.
Patrick Gagne is a French Canadian artist and Lead Creature Modeler at Industrial Light & Magic. He started as a game character modeler for companies such as Ubisoft, creating cinematics on brands such as Assassin’s Creed. He later changed his focus to VFX for feature films, and hasn't looked back since!
