Gnomon — School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation proudly presents The Art of The Ningyo at Gnomon Gallery. Delve deep behind the scenes of the character-driven 1909 period short film The Ningyo, and explore the making of a fantastical vision by Miguel Ortega (Director) and Tran Ma (Producer). Discover the creature concepts, environment designs, 3D sculpts, costumes, and more that contributed to a VFX masterpiece about cryptozoology, along with stunning stills from the short film itself.
Join us on Opening Night on Saturday, May 13th at 8:30 pm to be among the first to see the exhibition, and meet the Director, Producer, and other film contributors. The gallery opening will follow a Screening of The Ningyo at the Gnomon Stage (7:30 pm), including a Q&A with Miguel Ortega and Tran Ma. Meet the artists, network with peers, and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Signed posters will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, and a campus tour will be available at 9:00 pm. The Gallery Show will remain open to the public during business hours until June 21st.
About The Ningyo
The Ningyo is a short film by Miguel Ortega (Director) and Tran Ma (Producer), Alumni of Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation. The 1909 period film pilot about cryptozoology centers around the search for mythological or unproven creatures; it’s a Faustian tale about losing yourself in the process of achieving your goals.
