Overview
If you’ve completed relevant coursework at another college or university, you may be able to transfer that credit toward your Gnomon education—potentially saving time and reducing total program tuition. Connect with an Admissions Advisor to find out which of your previous courses might qualify for transfer credit.
Transfer Students
More than half of Gnomon’s new students transfer in credit from other schools. Whether you're coming from a community college, university, or another art school, transfer students thrive in our career-focused, production environment.
We offer clear pathways for applying prior coursework toward one of Gnomon’s full-time programs. Our team will evaluate your transcripts and materials to determine if credit can be awarded, helping you build momentum and focus on what comes next.
What Credits Can Transfer?
Gnomon considers transfer credit from accredited U.S. and international colleges, universities, and high schools (via AP). Credit is typically awarded for:
- General Education coursework
- Foundational art courses
- Advanced Placement (AP) exams with scores of 4 or 5 (earned within the past two years)
To be considered for credit, courses must:
- Be completed with a grade of C or better
- Be taken within the last five years
- Be equivalent in scope and outcomes to Gnomon’s curriculum
A maximum of 30% of the program total may be fulfilled through transfer credit.
Art course transfer requests must include a course description, syllabus, and examples of your completed artwork from the class.
When and How to Request Transfer Credit
Official transfer credit evaluations are completed after acceptance and must be submitted prior to confirming enrollment.
To begin the process, submit:
- Official transcripts from all schools attended
- Course descriptions and syllabi for any courses you'd like considered
- Artwork samples for art-based courses
You can also request an unofficial Transferability Guide from admissions@gnomon.edu if you're still exploring your options.
Special Note for FIAD Students
Students who complete Gnomon’s Foundation in Art & Design (FIAD) course of study and earn a C or better may transfer 12 of 13 FIAD courses directly into Gnomon’s BFA in Digital Production.
