Join us on Thursday, February 23rd for a conversation and live demo with Cameron Scott Davis as we explore the world of character design.
Our guest is an industry veteran with over 15 years of experience designing for companies such as Sony, DreamWorks Animation, and Sideshow Collectibles. Cameron will share a brief history of character design in entertainment, showing examples of classic characters and how they relate to Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey" including myth, metaphor, and archetypes.
The presentation will be followed by a live demo in which Cameron will design a character in real-time based on audience suggestions by drawing and painting in Adobe Photoshop.
Referencing characters from classic animated films and modern games, we'll explore the techniques and principles that make for great character design. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about this craft and ask questions during our Q&A segment.

Character Designer & Creative Director
C.S. Davis has worked in the entertainment industry for over 15 years designing for such companies as Activision, Sony, DreamWorks feature animation, Sideshow Collectibles, FOX, and more. His unique approach to design and ability to illustrate in various styles led to designing the characters for a number of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk video games. He has also taught character design at Gnomon and currently freelances, making time for his passion project titled Sleep Walker.
