Inside the VFX of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with ILM’s Marcella Brown

Join us on Thursday, November 20th at the Dell Stage on Gnomon’s campus for a behind-the-scenes look at the visual effects of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with Marcella Brown, Senior Effects Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic and Gnomon alumna!

In this presentation, Marcella will share her journey from student to industry professional, including how she built her skills, found her voice, and navigated a career in visual effects. She’ll break down her work on Skeleton Crew, offering an inside look at how ILM brought the show’s otherworldly visuals to life, from early creative decisions to technical execution. 

Marcella will share shot breakdowns, the challenges and innovations across effects sequences, and insights into the collaborative process behind building cinematic worlds. She will also share career insights on persistence, continuous learning, and carving out your own path in the industry. 

As always, campus tours and pizza will be available before the event begins. Plus, we’ll be raffling off a few Skeleton Crew merch items (any Lego fans) at the end of the event! Be sure to grab a raffle ticket at check-in.
