We are excited to welcome Forrest Stephan to our "Instructor Spotlight" series - a bi-weekly live stream event where you'll meet some of our amazing instructors and get a glimpse into their lives as artists and educators.
Forrest Stephan joins us to talk about Gnomon’s texturing and shading classes, his career as a Computer Graphics Supervisor for Cloud Imperium Games, and what it was like working on the highly anticipated title Squadron 42.
Gnomon's instructors are working professionals who bring unique experiences and perspectives into the classroom, and Forrest is no exception! Utilizing his 15 years of industry experience as a 3D artist, he teaches students the process of creating real-time, physically-based materials in Unreal Engine.
During this interview, we will talk with Forrest about his journey as an artist, what it’s like to create characters, environments, shaders, and visual effects for games, and what you can expect when learning from him at Gnomon. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask your questions in the chat!
Immediately following the interview, our host Adam Hartel will share a brief informational session about the Gnomon student experience and the various careers for artists within the Visual Effects, Animation, and Games industries.

Gnomon's full-time programs and 10-week individual courses are designed to develop well-rounded artists that are skilled in the diverse disciplines within 3D production. For those who reside outside of the US, virtual classroom-style online courses are also available.

Forrest Stephan
Computer Graphics Supervisor
For over 15 years, Forrest Stephan has exercised his talents as a 3D Artist into a prolific career as the current Computer Graphics Supervisor for Cloud Imperium Games currently working on the highly anticipated title Squadron 42. With versatility being the foundation for his skillet, Forrest has functioned across a variety of artistic disciplines including characters, environments, shaders, visual effects, cinematics, and technical art.

Adam Hartel
Gnomon Host
As a Recruiter, Adam travels to high schools, community colleges, and trade shows to educate prospective students about Gnomon’s academic options and provide information about careers in the entertainment industry. With over two decades of experience working in nonprofits, Adam has used his skills in visual art, photography, and design to create socially conscious initiatives in collaboration with art students and professionals. He has lived and worked abroad in Norway and the Netherlands while traveling Europe as a community developer and public speaker. Adam holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from LIFE Pacific University.
