Join us on Wednesday, December 14th for an exciting presentation from The Shiflett Brothers!

Over their 30-year career, Brandon and Jarrod Shiflett have become leading artists in fantasy sculpting. During this live stream event, the duo will discuss their process of traditional clay sculpting using both polymer and epoxy clays. They’ll cover their design philosophies, discuss materials, tools, and techniques, and walk viewers step-by-step through their entire armature building and sculpting processes.

Our host, David Igo, will have the brothers diving into the nitty gritty of sculpting, waxing philosophical about pose, gesture, and facial expressions. Brandon and Jarrod will also talk about the collectibles industry as a whole, the changes they’ve seen in that industry over the years, and the reasons for the ongoing relevance of traditional sculpting in a digital art world.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for those interested in sculpting to discover some tips and tricks and get an up-close look at some in-process and finished pieces from two masters of the craft! Check out their work at http://shiflettbrothers.com and get your questions ready for our Q&A segment at the end of the presentation.

Events with closed captioning are available via Gnomon's Facebook Page.

Brandon & Jarrod Shiflett

The work of the Shiflett Brothers sits in video game design firms, special effects houses, and art departments across several industries, as well as the personal collections of film directors Peter Jackson and Robert Rodriguez, and Weta Workshop founder Sir Richard Taylor.

Their sculptures have been featured in books and magazines worldwide, including in six separate volumes of the annual book Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art. They have created sculpting process demonstration articles for the likes of ImagineFX, Heavy Metal, and Amazing Figure Modeler Magazines.

Brandon and Jarrod taught a Master Class on Sculpting for the Comic Book Industry at The Gnomon Workshop in Hollywood, California, and then created an Instructional Sculpting DVD, produced and released by Gnomon, entitled "Fantasy Sculpting: The Dragon of Argos." They were honored to sit on the jury for Spectrum 18: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art and were blown away a couple of years later when they received the Gold Award in Dimensional Work for Spectrum 21.

The Brothers have for years hosted, in one form or another, The Shiflett Brothers Sculpting Forum which now boasts over 30K members and features both pro and amateur sculptors, sculpting contests, and live streams of work by industry superstars.

From their work on iconic Marvel superheroes to their original character concept pieces produced under the banner of Shiflett Brothers Originals, Brandon and Jarrod continue to love what they do: celebrating science fiction, fantasy, and comic books through sculpture.
