The Rookies Ranks Gnomon #1 Best Visual Effects School in the US

The 12th Annual Rookies School Rankings were released this month, and we are pleased to announce that Gnomon won big in multiple categories! We ranked #1 in the US for both the "Best Game Design & Development Schools" and "Best Visual Effects Schools" categories, and also secured Top 5 in the US for "Top 50 Creative Media & Entertainment Schools" and Top 5 in the World for "Best 3D Animation Schools!" 

The Rookies has become one of the largest and most prestigious contests for digital art students across the globe. Unlike other educational ranking systems, they rely solely on the submission of student artwork, which is reviewed by 150+ industry veterans taking into account creative skills, technical skills, presentation, complexity, raw talent, and employment potential.

“The Rookies allow students to get their work in front of hundreds if not thousands of industry professionals and studios,” Gnomon's Director of Education Max Dayan said. “There isn't another platform for an aspiring artist with the level of opportunity and exposure that the Rookies contest provides."

Awards are always a boost to the spirit, but The Rookies is an extra special recognition because the results come solely from the incredible work our students produce and the guidance they're given by our talented instructors.

"We bring in artists who are at the top of their fields and give them the freedom to bring their expertise to the classroom. Gnomon students' artwork was among 4,401 entries from artists at 523 schools in 91 countries. 

"The recognition for both the school and the individual work of our students is awesome," Janzen said. "It can be hard to hammer away at a portfolio, always wanting it to be better and always seeing improvements to be made. To then have all that work recognized by The Rookies as being literally world-class is an amazing affirmation."
